Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet is Coming Soon

At a press event today, Barnes and Noble announced their second generation color LCD eReader (and more), the Nook Tablet. It looks the same as the Nook Color, but the internals have been updated with a dual core CPU and a gig of RAM. While the original model was pretty underpowered for a general purpose Android tablet, the Nook Tablet should be up to the task.

The Nook Tablet will sell for $249, and will start shipping November 18, according to B&N. It has a 7" IPS display, and some solid streaming and downloadable HD movie content (who needs Amazon Prime video, they say). Netflix. Hulu Plus, Pandora and more are pre-installed and waiting to hog your WiFi network's bandwidth.

The tablet has 16 gigs of internal storage, and of course it is an eBook reader too, with Barnes & Noble Nook installed plus access to their online store. You can download apps from B&N's store, so you've got a reasonably versatile device with an eReader and streaming video focus.

And yes, we'll be reviewing it.
