Video review HTC HD7 Windows Phone 7 on T-Mobile
      #39044 - 11/05/10 04:01 PM

The HTC HD7 will be on sale Monday the 8th for $199 with contract. It's T-Mobile's first Windows Phone 7 smartphone, and it's a kissing-cousin to the HTC HD2 of old in terms of hardware. But on the software front, they couldn't be more different. Windows 7 phones have more in common with the iPhone than they do with the Windows Mobile of old.

The HD7 is the largest-screen Windows Phone 7 device at launch and it has a 4.3" capacitive multi-touch 800 x 480 display. As you might guess, this is a large phone, but it is a slim and attractive beast. It has a pop-out stand on the back for landscape movie viewing, a 5 mpegapixel camera with a blinding dual LED flash arrangement (photos are acceptable but not remarkable), a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU and 16 gigs of internal storage (no microSD card slot). The usual 3G, GPS, WiFi and Bluetooth are on board. The GPS works with Big Maps and TeleNav.

Like all Windows 7 phones, it's very fast and responsive and seemingly impossible to crash. The HD7 does not have 4G, sorry. The Microsoft spec didn't support 4G at the time the HTC HD7 and other first round Windows 7 phones were designed.

And be sure to check out our HTC HD7 in-depth review.
