SomaSim to Bring City Building Sim "1849" to iPad

Grab your pickaxe and head out West! Indie developer SomaSim has announced that their Gold Rush-themed city builder, 1849, will release May 8 for PC, Mac, iPad, and Android tablets. Here are the detailed on this upcoming iPad game:

With all of the peril and possibility of the new frontier, 1849 challenges players to build a thriving mining empire in 19th century California. Inspired by SimCity and other classic simulation games, 1849 is set within 20 real Gold Rush-era cities, each with unique topography and natural resources that influence how they grow.

Transform Northern California from a rugged backwater into an economic powerhouse: build mines, establish farms, attract workers and keep up with their ever-increasing needs, set up trade networks from the High Sierras to San Francisco and beyond. With a campaign mode featuring 20 unique scenarios and an endless sandbox mode, 1849 promises hours of addictive fun in a compact indie package.

Key Features of 1849:

- A campaign mode that traces the development of the Gold Rush from mining camps to bustling cities. Each city scenario presents players with unique starting conditions, victory goals, and obstacle events. The current version of the game includes the first five scenarios with more being added as we approach launch.
- Vivid old west towns with buildings lining the streets directly inspired by California's Gold Country.
- Over 50 resources that players can dig up, farm, refine or manufacture as they build complex towns and cities.
- Classic city management simulation tailored and built specifically to be just as enjoyable on a tablet as it is on a PC.
- Developed by SomaSim, a new studio dedicated to producing deep simulation games for today's players.

At launch, 1849 will include:
- A full campaign mode with 20 scenarios.
- The ability to replay unlocked scenarios as many times as you'd like.
- A free-form sandbox mode to buld your ideal Old West town.
- For tablet versions, integration into the Apple Game Center and Google Play Games.
